Once I got the UPS reporting properly to Spiceworks (by uninstalling PowerPanel Personal Edition) I noticed that Spiceworks isn't able to pull Output load from it, only Battery %. I had to reinstall Personal Edition then uninstall that to get it working again. Worse yet, when I tested Business Edition 2.5, uninstalling it did not properly restore the default Windows 8.1 driver / behavior (even after rebooting). This seems to happen with both Personal and Business Editions. It wasn't until I uninstalled the PowerPanel software that I was able to run the command successfully. So after some back and forth with Spiceworks support (shoutout to Brendan Smith for helping me go thru scan logs) it seems that CyberPower's PowerPanel software (both the Personal Edition and Business Edition agent) suppresses Windows' built-in UPS detection / reporting in favor of its own.Īccording to Brendan, Spiceworks queries the "win32_battery" WMI value to get UPS data, but when I ran the command wmic path win32_battery I got No Instance(s) Available.
